Where else can an angler go and have world class fishing for up to 8 different species of fish? Lake of the Woods and the countless smaller lakes in the Lake of the Woods region offer some of the best fishing in the world.
Being that it is January, ice fishing is the name of the game in Sunset country right now. Most of our waters have 12-24 inches of ice and anglers are driving trucks all over the place. Over the past weekend I put on about 60 miles, out on "the Woods" and caught Lake Trout, Walleye, Whitefish and some big Pike. Snow cover is about 6 inches, so four wheel drive helps.
