The "Thunder" rolled loudly this past weekend in Red Lake, Ontario. Kenora Tagg's Peewee Thunder won the Gold Medal in the A-Side Final on Sunday, defeating the home-town Red Lake Legion.
Thunder had won 4 of the 5 round robin games, losing their first match-up with Red Lake on the Saturday night 4-2.
In Sunday's final, Thunder made no mistake in the rematch. Jovan Samain scored the first goal at the end of the first period, with Red Lake answering back early in the second. Samain went on to score his second goal in the third period with Aren Johnson sealing the win with 2 minutes left in the third. All boys contributed to the 3-1 victory, with energy, enthusiasm and teamwork. The team displayed great sportsmanship both on and off the ice, coming in second-place to receive the least amount of penalty minutes during the entire tournament.
This is the second tournament win for Tagg's Thunder, who claimed the Gold Medal in Beausejour, Mb in November, followed by a Bronze Medal win in Teulon, Mb. in December. Fantastic effort boys!
