INFERNO FLAMES GOLDEN AND PENGUINS SILVER IN DRYDEN

INFERNO FLAMES BRING HOME GOLD IN PEEWEE DIVISON AND NOVICE PENGUINS GET SILVER
5 teams from our association attending the Kathy Sanders Memorial Tournament in Dryden January 22-24, 2010 in the Novice, Atom and PeeWee Divisions.
The PeeWee Inferno Flames claimed the gold medal advancing to the final with a 3-0 record with wins against the Dryden Herricanes (3-1), Red Lake 10-1 and T.Bay Sharks (4-0)placing them at the top of their pool. The met the Fort Frances Lakewood Tire Eagles in Sundays Final. The Flames scored the first three goals in the game with markers by Eve Charlebois, Spencer Alcock and Kylie Fisher. The Eagles scored two but were unable to get the equalizer with the game ending in a 3-2 victory for the Flames. Aryn Puls was supreme in net for the flames throughout the tournament. Coach Joel Gilfix would like to note that this was Kenora's second win in this tournament two year's running.
The lone Kenora Novice team LOW Penguins advanced to Sunday's Final with a 3-1 record with wins against TBay Leafs (3-2), T.Bay Bruins (8-0 -Hat Tricks by Hannah Yaremko and Maren Turner), and Dryden Leafs (8-0 - 2 each from Sydney White and Maren Turner and a loss to the T.Bay Canadian 1-2. They met the T.Bay Leafs in the final, losing 2-1 to claim silver. Jordan Bourgeois had the lone marker in the game.
In Atom the LOW Flyers, playing all weekend with only 8 skaters, narrowly lost the bronze medal in a 3-1 shoot out loss to the Fort Frances Kaemingh Esso. The LOW Warriors defeated the LOW Ice Cats 5-4 in the 5th place game.
