Welcome to another skating season!
Date: October 10, 2008 Author: reagan riehl
  W E L C O M E !!

And so it begins, another skating season….welcome back to the returning skaters and “Welcome to Keewatin Skating Club” to all of you new skaters!

We have many new faces in the club this year as well as a new coach. Please welcome Donna Hansen to the club who will be a very big help to Gisele and I. As our numbers have increased this year we will be looking for some parent volunteers to help with running the club smoothly. We are looking for two parent volunteers from each of my group, Gisele’s group and Donna’s group to distribute and collect newsletters, fundraising information, etc.

We will be having a parent meeting on Monday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 23, 2008 at 5:20 p.m, in the lobby of the Arena. The coaches will have all of the skaters on the ice so you will be available for the meeting which will be an information session for the season and a chance to sign up on our volunteer list.

There is a fundraising package and while nobody enjoys fundraising it is a necessary part of running our club. We don’t ask that you send your skater door to door, just see if family members or neighbours might be interested in any of these fundraisers. All fundraising must be returned to us by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2008 so we can process them and have them back in time for Christmas. Watch our bulletin board for an arrival date for Mom’s Pantry.

Our Halloween Party and family fun skate will be held on WEDNESDAY, October 29, 2008 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Skaters can have their parents and siblings join them on that day. For insurance purposes please write your name on the bulletin board asap if you are coming to the family fun skate. There will be a charge of $1.00 per guest skater to cover our insurance costs. There will be a Halloween bucket to put the loonies into at the boards on that day. Costumes can be worn, but remember they need to be skating safe - no masks, tails dragging or props please.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at deblnovak@shaw.ca.
